The Only Relocation Guide You NeedOne of the first things people experience when moving to San Jose is some form of sticker shock. Home buyers and rentors will pay a premium to live in the Bay Area, but those of us that have been here a long time understand the value of life here in the Bay Area. San Jose offers almost everything within a short distance, and a Mediterranean climate that is easy to enjoy. • Relocating To San Jose?
If you are looking for a rental, the Tom Merigan Team, can advise the following sources. Firstly, San Jose Mercury Real Estate for South Bay seekers. Another good source is Craigslist Rentals, but be advised it is very competitive. A good service to help find a rental is Bayrentals.com. And another website that can be helpful is actually an ebay rental site, called Rent.com. Another good site is Rentals.com.
There are three main airports that service the Bay Area, San Francisco International and Norman Mineta San Jose International Airport as well as Oakland Internaional Airport. There are also two bus systems, Samtrans in San Mateo county and VTA in Santa Clara County. VTA also includes a Light Rail System, which links with Caltrain at the Diridon Station. Caltrain actually used to be called Southern Pacific and is the railroad linking SF, San Jose, LA, and the rest of the United States. San Mateo and Oakland also have the Bay Area Rapid Transict or BART system but it does not yet link to San Jose. Plans are in the works though and the change should come soon.

There are many things to do in and around San Jose without having to go far. For those who like snow, there is little to find here. However skiing/snowboarding areas and regular winter snow are only 4.5 hours away in Lake Tahoe, which offers world class skiing with both Heavenly Valley and Squaw Valley ski areas. There is much recreation in the Lake Tahoe basin as well as world class casinos all year around. Beaches are nearby and located on the coast. They stretch from Monterey to Half Moon Bay. The most popular weekend beaches nearby San Jose are Capitola and Santa Cruz beaches. Santa Cruz is also famous for its Beach/Boardwalk. Capitola is best known for its arts, restaurants, and bars. San Jose is considered the hub of technology for the US and is regarded as the capital of Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley is at the heart of the computer world, and is home for huge tech companies like Intel, Apple, HP, Cisco, Adobe and Facebook. People tend to relocate here for technical jobs that are in and around San Jose and Silicon Valley. Recruiters have their hands full with job requsitions, although there has been a slight pullback more recently. Even though manufacturing has moved offshore to some extent, the design and marketing still is mostly happening in the Valley. The top recruiting sites are monster.com, sanjosemercury.com, bajobs.com, and siliconvalleycareers.com.
